Where it all started

17 February 2008! Soon 10 years since my first ever mountain bike race. I had been avoiding it for a couple of years as I didn't want to ruin my chilled out hobby by making it competitive. But this was "just a local chilled out race". The popular Gorrick spring series attracts hundreds of riders. This series is very similar to the X-cup series we have in Skåne, but with separate starts for all different categories. As this was the year I turned 30 I could choose to start in the Beginners, the Fun, the Open, the Sport or the Master women category. I ended up entering the Open category with an incredible 21 starters. When crossing the finish line in fifth place, and with a massive smile on my face, I realised that this was a totally different thing, and that I could have both. I've been hooked on racing ever since, but I have no problems going out on those chilled out rides, normally combined with a Swedish fika, and just take in the whole nature experience.

Exploration

I have explored the world on two wheels! Well, maybe not all of it, but have been on mountain bike holidays to Nepal 2006/7, Guatemala 2007/8, West Virginia 2008 and Peru 2012. It's a great way to see a country as you can get to places you cannot reach with a car.
